Tom Field

Tom Field graduated from River Falls High School in 1979. He attended the University of Colorado-Boulder and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then entered medical school in 1987 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1991 and completed his residency in 1994 in Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota-North Memorial Hospital.

During high school at River Falls Field participated in three sports. He lettered two years in football, three years in hockey, and four years in golf.

As a senior the golf team took third in the state tournament, and as a senior on the football team Tom earned all-conference as a place kicker. At Colorado he was the place-kicker for the Buffaloes for four years and is the seventh all-time leading scorer in school history.

After completing his medical training he served from 1994-1998 in the active duty Air Force as a family physician stationed at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska. He received the meritorious service medal for his four years of service. In 1999 he worked for a medical relief organization in Africa in the country of South Sudan for 15 months where he met his wife Damaris who was also serving with the same relief organization.

Field has also served in other countries in medical mission and relief settings, including Ecuador, Kenya, Bangladesh, and Honduras. He and his wife are hoping to have more opportunities to serve internationally as a family through medicine.

His current work is with the Baldwin Area Medical Center focusing on hospice and palliative medicine and care for those living in a nursing home.

Field and his wife Damaris have four daughters, ages 5 to 10, and since 2001 have been living in Hudson. They enjoy running and skiing at Willow River State Park and many other outdoor activities. Every two years they travel to Switzerland to visit Damaris' extended family.

After many years without golfing Tom is hoping to swing the clubs a bit more this summer
