Wildcat Hall of Fame

Philosophy

Our purpose is to conduct an event which brings honor to the school by highlighting the accomplishments of its alumni, coaches, and friends. The rich tradition of River Falls athletics over the years is one the community feels a deep sense of pride. To build on that pride, the Wildcat Hall of Fame provides the opportunity to sustain the memories and share the moments of the past with former inductees, teammates, and friends.

Criteria for Inductees

A candidate for induction into the Wildcat Hall of Fame must satisfy the qualifications in one of the following categories within the past fifty (50) years:

  1. Athletic and Personal Achievement: A former River Falls High School athlete who performed with excellence. Must be a graduate and out of school for at least ten (10) years. Nominees must be, or have been, a credit to family, country, and River Falls. The inductee may be either living or deceased.
  2. Coaches: A nominee must have been a former coach who has distinguished himself/herself by demonstrating exceptional leadership, character, and athletic achievement during his/her tenure in the River Falls School District. The inductee may be either living or deceased.
  3. Distinguished Citizen Award: A person who has made outstanding contributions to the River Falls School District and/or to society as a whole.  The inductee may be either living or deceased.
  4. Legacy Award: A person who meets any of the above criteria prior to the last fifty (50) years.  The inductee may be either living or deceased.
  5. Team Award: A team that demonstrated historic accomplishments in the field of competition while displaying great team character and sportsmanship. The season must have taken place 10 or more years ago.

Selection of Nominees for Hall of Fame Ballots

The Executive Committee will select nominees for the election ballot based off the Criteria for Inductees within the following limits:

  1. The Executive Committee may select a maximum of eight (8) former athletes each year.
  2. The Executive Committee may select a maximum of three (3) former coaches per year.
  3. The Executive Committee may select a maximum of three (3) Distinguished Citizen Award recipient per year.
  4. The Executive Committee may select a maximum of three (3) Legacy Award recipient per year.
  5. The Executive Committee may select a maximum of three (3) Team Award per year

Election of Inductees

The Election Committee will be responsible for the disbursement and collection of all ballots to voting members of the Wildcat Hall of Fame.  Election ballots will consist of a detailed biography of each nominee represented.  Voting members will be responsible to return their respective ballot by the designated deadline to be considered valid. 

Voting members will vote based off of the following guidelines:

  1. Three (3) votes in the category of former Athletes
  2. One (1) vote in the category of former Coaches
  3. One (1) vote in the category of Distinguished Citizen
  4. One (1) vote in the category of Legacy
  5. One (1) vote in the category of Team

Inductees will be selected based off of highest number of votes received, given the following limits:

  1. A maximum of four (4) Inductees in the category of former Athletes
  2. A maximum of one (1) Inductee in the category of former Coaches
  3. A maximum of one (1) Inductee in the category of Distinguished Citizen
  4. A maximum of one (1) Inductee in the category of Legacy
  5. A maximum of one (1) Inductee in the category of Team

Voting Members

The following individuals are considered to be voting members of the Wildcat Hall of Fame:

  1. Former Inductees of the Wildcat Hall of Fame
  2. Current Head Coaches of a WIAA sanctioned sport at River Falls High School
  3. Sports Information Director at the River Falls Journal
Any voting members currently serving as a member of the Executive Committee will abstain from voting while they are serving on the Executive Committee.

Induction of Members into the Wildcat Hall of Fame

  • A special and separate induction ceremony will be held to honor those who have been selected into the Wildcat Hall of Fame. This event will take place each fall as part of the River Falls High School Homecoming events.
  • Pictures and information regarding the inductees to be displayed in the Wildcat Hall of Fame display case inside the River Falls High School.

Executive Committee

  • Principal of River Falls High School
  • Activities Director of River Falls High School
  • Advisor(s) of the River Falls High School Pep Club
  • Chairpersons of Election Committee and Induction Ceremony Committee

Election Committee

  1. A minimum of Three (3) community members appointed by the Executive Committee to serve a two (2) terms.  When the respective terms expire, the Executive Committee may reappoint new members or retain the outgoing members for a new term if they so desire.

The above Committee will select a chairperson. The chairperson may succeed himself/herself if agreed upon by the Executive Committee.

Induction Ceremony Committee

  1. A minimum of five (5) community members appointed by the Executive Committee to serve a two (2) terms.  When the respective terms expire, the Executive Committee may reappoint new members or retain the outgoing members for a new term if they so desire.
The above Committee will select a chairperson. The chairperson may succeed himself/herself if agreed upon by the Executive Committee.

Meetings

  1. The Executive Committee shall conduct a minimum of two (2) meetings each year.
  2. Special committee meetings may be called at the discretion of the committee chairperson.

Amendments

These by-laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members of the Executive Committee at a regular or special meeting.
